The hospital is strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur City, making it accessible to patients and carers. Though it is located in the metropolitan, it is still remote from the bustling city. Hospital Rehabilitasi Cheras is also known as the "Hospital in the Park"- it is designed with emphasis given on incorporation of green spaces and therapeutic landscapes in its design.
Apart from the lustrous green scenery, a lot of green technologies have been applied in its design and construction. It is the first hospital in Malaysia to implement the use of Industrialised Building System (IBS) in the effort to promote greater efficiency, reduction in labour, and cost-effectiveness in construction. It is also the first hospital in Malaysia to integrate energy-efficiency (EE) and sustainable design principles into the overall development. Many parts of the building are naturally cooled, with utilisation of natural daylight as the source for lighting.
The hospital starts to operate on 2nd July 2012 and provides both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. It has six wards with 166 beds and has the capacity to expand further to accommodate 300 beds in the future.
